3 Sisters Embroidery reopens in Durham as The Yard Collective
The Durham custom apparel and embroidery shop set its ribbon cutting and grand opening under the new name for Oct. 24.

The Yard Collective, the Durham custom apparel and embroidery shop formerly known as 3 Sisters Embroidery, set a ribbon cutting and grand opening under its new name for Saturday, Oct. 24, 2026, at its store at 5410 NC Highway 55, Suite W, in Durham's Greenwood Commons shopping plaza.
The business describes itself as a premium Greek lifestyle brand rooted in the heritage of HBCUs and Black Greek Letter Organizations. It is fully licensed for the Divine Nine, the historically Black fraternities and sororities, and offers custom embroidery and branded merchandise for chapters, organizations and businesses. The company says it was established in 1998 and is led by a husband and wife team, Norman and Chavonne.
"More than a retail destination, The Yard Collective is a space where HBCU pride, Divine Nine legacy, culture, and community come together," the company wrote in its invitation. It said Dr. Mike Lee would join the celebration and invited neighbors, local leaders, HBCU alumni and Divine Nine organizations.
On its website, the company sums up the change this way: "The name has changed. The commitment remains." The store is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
