ReCity opens a free lounge for Durham founders
The Renaissance Lounge at 112 Broadway St. gives entrepreneurs, startups and nonprofits a no-cost place to meet clients and plan.

ReCity Network opened the Renaissance Lounge in downtown Durham on Oct. 28, 2026, with a ribbon cutting and a keynote by Mayor Leo Williams. The 1,000-square-foot space at 112 Broadway St. is open to entrepreneurs, startups, micro businesses and nonprofits.
The Lounge is free to use Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. It also hosts a Maker's Market where local makers and small businesses can sell artisan goods.
The first business inside is M.Y. Cafe, a Black-owned botanical beverage lab run by Matthias Payton, who has spent 10 years in the plant-based beverage industry. The cafe serves teas, coffees, sparkling waters and cacao drinks on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
"Durham is full of people building something real out of a laptop bag and a borrowed table, and too many of them can't afford a room to sit down with a client, a partner or an investor," said KJ Hill, executive director of ReCity Network. "The Renaissance Lounge is our way of saying there's a seat here for you."
