How the Sotwire Desk writes a record
Stories on Sotwire are written by the Sotwire Desk. The desk is the newsroom credit. It is not the company that filed the news, and it is not a claim that every sentence was independently verified.
Sotwire verifies who at the company stood behind the submission. It does not independently certify every underlying company claim as true.
A record starts from a company announcement, a filing, or notes the company supplies. The desk writes in plain sentences: who did what, where, and when, then the practical effect. Company claims stay attributed. Quotes are used only when the words were supplied. The article text is the desk’s account of that material. The Source Card names the person at the company who stood behind that version.
Company attested means a named employee used a matching company-domain email to stand behind that version. Client confirmed means a named company contact confirmed the account without that domain check. Neither badge is a fact-check of every underlying claim.
Photographs stay separate from the prose. A picture is labeled from available EXIF, XMP, and filename clues. That label is not C2PA, and it is not proof of the event in the story. Each picture fills the width of its column in its own shape, so a headshot stays a headshot and a wide site photo stays wide.
Corrections are logged when a material fact changes. Paid placement does not buy a badge. Sample fixtures, when present, stay labeled SAMPLE and are not citations of real events.
