TenX Sustainability says its software builds sustainability reports from existing data

A company's financial statements are audited. Its sustainability results, says TenX Sustainability, a Raleigh software company, must be confirmed by outside, third-party verification in much the same way.

TenX sells software built around that check. Its program, TenXTL, builds corporate sustainability reports automatically from data a business already collects, the company says, and reports should be built so that auditors can examine them efficiently. Its customers, the company says, are large organizations that publish their sustainability progress alongside their financial results in integrated annual reports, or plan to.

The company's case is about who does the data work. Other reporting platforms, TenX says, leave it to users to identify, gather, clean and organize the data. TenXTL is meant to do that work. "Reports are generated through an automated process that delivers timeliness, accuracy, and assurance with existing source data," the company's home page says.

Customers sign in to the software through an online portal linked from the site. The website does not name customers, give prices or publish results from a client's report.

Stephen B. Austin, a licensed professional engineer, is managing director. Austin's company biography lists more than 30 years in energy, automation and utility optimization, including work as manager of engineering for Schneider Electric and principal engineer for Glaxo Wellcome. Austin holds a master's degree in mechanical engineering from N.C. State University. The team page also lists Caleb Carter, director of product development, and Emmanuel Ezinandor, sustainability data analyst.

TenX Sustainability is the newer of two companies Stephen Austin leads. TenX Energy Corp., an industrial energy-efficiency consultancy, was incorporated on Oct. 28, 2008, with Austin as president, according to the Better Business Bureau. TenX Sustainability's LinkedIn page gives 2023 as its founding year. Both companies list the same office, on East Six Forks Road in Raleigh.
