Scipher Medicine adds PrismTcell to its rheumatoid arthritis tests
The Durham precision medicine company plans an early physician access program for the blood test in early 2027.

Scipher Medicine, a Durham immunology precision medicine company, announced on Oct. 28, 2026, the expected launch of an early physician access program for PrismTcell, a new blood-based test designed to predict which patients with rheumatoid arthritis will respond to abatacept, a T-cell activation inhibitor.
PrismTcell joins PrismRA, Scipher's existing test for predicting non-response to TNF inhibitors, which the company says is the first and only molecular treatment response signature in immunology approved for reimbursement by CMS. According to the company, a clinical validation study found about a 2-fold higher ACR50 response rate to abatacept among patients selected by the PrismTcell signature than among patients without it. The test is performed in Scipher's CLIA-certified, CAP-accredited laboratory in North Carolina.
"We are excited to contribute to the future of precision diagnostics in immunology with the launch of PrismTcell, as we continue our mission to match the right treatments with the right patients," said Dr. Reg Seeto, chief executive officer of Scipher Medicine. The company also said it plans to enter precision therapeutics.
Scipher plans to start the PrismTcell Early Access Program in early Q1 2027, letting rheumatologists at participating practices order the test for adult patients being considered for abatacept. The development and validation data will be presented as a poster at ACR Convergence 2026, the American College of Rheumatology's annual meeting, on Nov. 10 in Orlando, Florida.
