Gregg Marks, then chief executive of Marks Clearing & Grading, appeared in the Triangle Business Journal's Executive Insights series with president and publisher Sougata Mukherjee as a 2025 Fast 50 honoree.

He traced the company to 2018, when his son Tyler Marks left NC State three weeks into college to start a sitework business with an old Bobcat and one employee. The company now installs utilities and infrastructure for residential subdivisions and commercial sites, and it named Toll Brothers, Pulte and Lennar among its largest customers.

Gregg Marks said speed is the company's edge. "We're going to build a job faster than any other sitework company in the market," he said. According to the company, on one large Lennar project Marks was given 26 months and is turning over finished lots in about 13.

He also said the company's development arm, MCG Capital, is self-developing around 14 projects under contract as Marks moves toward supplying finished lots to the national builders it already works for.
