Marks Clearing & Grading moves about 700,000 cubic yards of earth at Merritt Reserve in Rolesville

Marks Clearing & Grading is running clearing, earthwork and utility installation at Merritt Reserve, a multi-phase residential development in Rolesville that the company calls one of the largest projects on its board.
Roughly 700,000 cubic yards of earthwork is underway at the site, according to the company. Clearing crews are opening ground on later phases while mass grading follows behind them and utility crews install storm, water and sanitary lines in phases cleared months earlier.
Marks said it handles clearing, earthwork, utilities, curb and paving with its own crews so the project runs on a single schedule. The site has also hosted safety stand-downs where crews stop work to review hazards.
