Marks Clearing & Grading continues sitework at Meritage Homes' Avalon in Durham
Crews are clearing and building roads in new phases while families live in finished homes nearby.

Marks Clearing & Grading has worked at Avalon, a Meritage Homes community in Durham, since the first trees came down, and its crews are still clearing land, installing utilities and building roads in later phases.
Finished, occupied homes now sit on one end of the site while sitework continues on the other. The company said that changes how it works: haul routes have to account for residents, dust, noise and traffic control matter more, and utility tie-ins have to happen without interrupting service to homes that are already lived in.
Marks said staying on a community from start to finish means each new phase benefits from what its crews already know about the site's soils, drainage and inspections. It thanked Meritage Homes for continuing to hire it for upcoming phases.
