Gregg Marks moves from chief executive to executive chairman at Marks Clearing & Grading
Gregg Marks is now executive chairman and chief growth officer, a role the company says covers growth and culture, including partnerships and acquisitions. Tim Clay was announced as chief executive two days later.
Gregg Marks has a new job at Marks Clearing & Grading, and describes it as a return. "Getting back to what I love, which is growth, culture, strategy, and acquisitions," Gregg Marks said.
The company announced on Aug. 4, 2026, that Gregg Marks, who had been chief executive, has stepped into the role of executive chairman and chief growth officer. Two days later, on Aug. 6, it announced Tim Clay as chief executive.
The company says the role lets Gregg Marks work on growth and culture at the same time, including partnerships and acquisitions.
In an October 2025 interview with the Triangle Business Journal, Gregg Marks said the company's edge is speed and quality. Its development arm, Gregg Marks said then, was self-developing around 14 projects under contract as the company moved toward providing finished lots to national builders.
Gregg Marks is the father of Tyler Marks, the company's founder and president.
