Craven 100 Alliance puts $200,000 into the Craven County Industrial Park

Craven County's industrial park sits where Clarks Road meets U.S. 70, just outside New Bern, on City of New Bern water and sewer. On Aug. 4, 2025, the Craven 100 Alliance put $200,000 toward improvements there.

The money was part of an $843,900 budget amendment that county commissioners approved 7-0 that night. The alliance is a 501(c)(3) public-private partnership funded by private investors, Craven County, and the cities of New Bern and Havelock. The county website says it invests "in infrastructure, real estate and companies directly."

Jeff Wood, the county's economic development director, presented the amendment for building and lot improvements. The approved minutes show three pieces. The biggest, $543,900, was left from a state grant and carried over from fiscal year 2025. The alliance's $200,000 was for the industrial park. A $100,000 transfer from the county's fund balance was for building and lot improvements at a property the minutes call Launch Point.

Commissioners approved a second, separate amendment the same night, with no alliance money in it. It included $300,000 to extend water and sewer lines to Lot 6 in the industrial park, to prepare that site for development. It also carried the rest of a N.C. Department of Commerce grant for industrial development on property at Coastal Carolina Regional Airport.

The state money for the park traces to 2024, when Craven County Economic Development was awarded a $2,450,000 state grant for industrial park improvements. Wood told commissioners on June 15, 2026, that the grant had paid for expansion of the park and the purchase of more land.

At that meeting, Wood thanked the alliance, among others, for its support of the county's economic development work.
